WA has worst enrolment rate

The Electoral Commission has revealed that more than 200,000 West Australians who are eligible to vote are not on the electoral roll.

Only 66 per cent of the state's 18 to 25 year olds are enrolled to vote in the coming state election.

That's the lowest enrolment in that age group of any of the states.

The Electoral Commission is hoping to improve that and will today launch a new campaign targeting those who aren't on the roll.

Electoral Commissioner, Warren Gately believes the statistics are worse in WA because there has not been a state election in four and half years.

He says younger potential voters are apathetic.

Registration is open until February 14 and the election is March 9.
