NEARLY TWO DECADES AFTER THIS FIVE-YEAR-OLD'S FACE WAS POSTED ON NUMEROUS MISSING CHILDREN'S WEBSITES ...

RICHARD WAYNE LANDERS JUNIOR FROM INDIANA HAS BEEN FOUND.

NOW AT AGE 24 .... INVESTIGATORS SAY HE'S BEEN LIVING IN MINNESOTA UNDER THE NAME MICHAEL JEFF LANDERS.

HE'D BEEN ABDUCTED BY HIS GRANDPARENTS

[Notes:SOUNDBITE: John Russell, Retired LaGrange Co. Sheriff's Deputy: "It's just too bad that those many years have gone by, but I'm really happy that he was found and everything's ok."]

JOHN RUSSELL WAS SHERIFF'S DEPUTY AT THE TIME OF THE 1994 DISAPPEARANCE.

HE SAYS HE SPENT TWO MONTHS INVESTIGATING THE CASE.

[Notes:SOUNDBITE: John Russell, Retired LaGrange Co. Sheriff's Deputy: "I made contacts with as many family members I could find, and just kept hitting a dead end."]

AUTHORITIES REOPENED THE CASE IN SEPTEMBER ....

THAT'S WHEN THEY SAY THE BOY'S STEPFATHER TURNED OVER HIS SOCIAL SECURITY CARD.

[Notes:SOUNDBITE: Sgt. Ron Galaviz, Indiana State Police: ""A young man living in the state of Minnesota actually using the social security number, but what was really interesting was that, (Covered by a CU on the officer using a mouse) doing further checking on who this person was, he had the same exact date of birth as (On camera) the boy who was listed as missing back in 1994."]

NOW RETIRED ... THE 70-YEAR OLD RUSSELL REMEMBERS THAT THE BOY'S MOTHER AND STEPFATHER WERE UNEMPLOYED AND LIVED IN A CAR WHEN THE CHILD WAS ABDUCTED.

HE ALSO SAYS THAT LANDERS HAD LIVED WITH HIS PATERNAL GRANDPARENTS SINCE BIRTH.

[Notes:SOUNDBITE: John Russell, Retired LaGrange Co. Sheriff's Deputy: "I just knew that they were not the kind of people that were going to see that he got hurt at all, but it was wrong."]

OFFICIALS SAY THE GRANDPARENTS COULD NOW FACE FEDERAL CHARGES IN THE CASE.
