Man kept in custody over 'love rival' shooting

A man charged over a shooting near Coffs Harbour on the New South Wales mid-north coast has been refused bail.

Daniel Baird, 20, has faced court charged with shoot with intent to murder.

The charges related to an incident at Mullaway, north of Coffs Harbour.

Baird he allegedly shot another man in the head at close range through a car window on Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the dispute centred on an affair the 32-year-old victim had with the gunman's previous girlfriend.

The injured man is recovering in the Coffs Harbour Hospital.

The Local court refused Baird bail and the case has been adjourned until February 26.
