More than 100 nurses are rallying outside Brisbane's Prince Charles (PC) Hospital to protest against planned job cuts.

Nurses are angry about plans announced earlier this week to slash 25 full-time nursing jobs and four beds from the hospital's surgical wards as a cost-saving move.

Queensland Nurses Union (QNU) spokesman Des Elder says the number of nurses affected will actually be higher.

"It'll be something more like 29 nurses that will lose positions," Mr Elder said.

The hospital's executive director says elective surgery waiting times will not be effected and nurses will be offered voluntary redundancies.
