A police officer who was charged and stood aside after a police pursuit ended in a crash, has pleaded not guilty to dangerous driving.

Police allege 23-year-old Matthew David Meyerhoff got involved in a police pursuit without authorisation.

The constable allegedly parked his police car across a road in Beechboro while someone was detained in the back.

The police car was subsequently rammed by the stolen car officers were pursuing, but no one was injured.

Mr Meyerhoff is due to stand trial in July on the dangerous driving charge.

His lawyer told the Midland Magistrates Court today that his client was just doing his job.
