The fire danger is expected to remain severe in western Queensland for the next few days as the region continues to experience high temperatures in the mid-40s degrees Celsius, low humidity and strong winds.

There is a fire weather warning for the state's north-west, Channel Country and central-west and parts of the Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders and Maranoa and Warrego districts.

About four fires are burning and all are under control.

There was a concern for one blaze near Eromanga in the south-west, but the fire was contained in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters with the help of aerial support will monitor the blaze today.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Julian De Morton says conditions in the state's Channel Country and north-west this week will be pretty similar conditions to last week.

"There's not much relief from these hot conditions that we're seeing," he said.

"We're going to continue to see temperatures really mid-40s in the Channel Country and low to mid-40s in the north-west district looking to reasonably similar wind conditions for the next few days."

He says Birdsville in the far south-west hit the expected 47 degrees Celsius on Friday and the outback town will see similar temperatures leading into this weekend.

"It's certainly possible but closer to next weekend, maybe around Saturday," he said.

"Looking through our temperature guide it doesn't really look as though these temperatures are going to drop for the next week really."
