The federal government has sent a mobile services centre to Tasmania as it tries to bring much-needed help to bushfire victims.

The fires, which continue to burn, have destroyed about 100 homes and left thousands of people displaced or stranded.

Emergency Services Minister Nicola Roxon said those affected could apply for emergency funding of up to $1000 per adult, and $400 per child.

Ms Roxon said a mobile government services centre had been sent to Tasmania to deliver the funding.

"It's very important that we provide assistance where it's most needed," she said in a statement on Monday.

"This funding is designed to help people get back on their feet during this very difficult time."
