A man has fallen to his death at a popular tourist spot in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney.

The man, believed to be aged in his 20s, fell from a walking track at Wentworth Falls on Sunday afternoon.

Rosa Petroccitto says she saw the man mucking about with his friends on some rocks and warned them to be careful.

"Then they went down to the next one and I knew something was going to happen," she said.

"We just saw them all panic and a 20-year-old boy fell over 100 metres down the waterfall.

"(It's) pretty sad, very unfortunate."

Police are investigating the man's death.

In a separate incident at Coogee Beach in Sydney's east, a man suffered critical head injuries after he fell from a wall.

The 31-year-old was left unconscious when he fell onto concrete after trying to climb the wall.

He was airlifted to hospital and is in an induced coma on a ventilator.
