A man has allegedly attacked a woman in her car after being thrown out of a hotel in Sydney's eastern suburbs.

The 35-year-old man was escorted from a hotel on Ebley Street, Bondi Junction, by two employees because of his behaviour shortly before 6.30pm (AEDT) on Thursday.

As they removed him from the premises, the man struggled with the staff members, who let him go once they got outside.

The man then approached a 69-year-old woman who had stopped at traffic lights.

He's accused of punching her in the face.

Police said the woman suffered swelling and bruising.

It's alleged the man then walked back to the pub and attempted to punch one of the male staff who had walked him out.

The man was restrained and officers from Eastern Suburbs Local Area Command arrested him.

He has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, refusing to leave licensed premises and breach of bail.

The man was refused bail to appear at Waverley Local Court later on Friday.
