A woman charged after an arson attack that destroyed a house in Adelaide's south has been released on bail.

The fire was started in a brush fence about 4:20am on Thursday and spread to a neighbouring property on Glenalvon Drive at Flagstaff Hill.

A mother and her four children escaped from the burning home.

Police say the fire caused $300,000 damage and it is likely the house will be demolished.

It is the sixth suspected arson attack in the street in the past three weeks.

Police attended a small fire in the same street on Wednesday.

A 50-year-old woman who lives in the area was charged with one count of arson.

She will appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in March.
