Police say the death of an elderly woman in Karrinyup is not being treated as suspicious.

The woman and her husband were found by their two sons this morning in their Dempster Street house.

Her husband was found alive but required medical treatment.

He was taken by ambulance to Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

Police have released no details about the couple but say their investigation found no evidence of any criminal action by the woman's husband.

A report is being prepared for the coroner.
