The first major event of the Summernats car festival will get underway at midday in Canberra.
The Citycruise along Northbourne Avenue between Exhibition Park (EPIC) and Civic will launch the car festival for 2013.
Police warn there will be disruption to traffic as the vehicles pass.
Organisers expect more than 80,000 people to attend Summernats events over the next four days .
About 200 hundred vehicles have registered for the cruise down Canberra's main road.
Summernats co-owner Andy Lopez says last year's parade attracted 20,000 spectators.
"We put it on at midday so people can come down from their offices and watch," he said.
"Also it's for families who might want to come into town and have a look it's not a bad time either."
Mr Lopez says it will run only for about 30 minutes.
"Now you're allowed to watch the city cruise from anywhere along Northbourne," he said.
"It's an alcohol free event but come out and get a seat nice and early.
"Make sure you bring plenty of shade and sunscreen cause it's going to be pretty hot."
