A South Australian volunteer firefighter has appeared in court accused of deliberately lighting three fires in Adelaide's south on New Year's Day.
The 31-year-old man has been charged with three counts of arson after emergency crews were called to fires in a car, truck and wood pile at Happy Valley at 3:30am on Tuesday.
All of the fires were on Education Road.
Police say the truck fire destroyed the vehicle and caused significant damage to a nearby house.
The Country Fire Service has suspended the man from duties.
He appeared in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
Magistrate Koula Kossiavelos suppressed the man's identity and remanded him in custody while inquiries were made into his suitability for home detention.
He will reappear in court on Friday.
