Defending Sydney to Hobart overall winner Loki has been confirmed as runner-up to Wild Oats XI in the 2012 race.

Skippered by gaming machine mogul Stephen Ainsworth, who has said his 15th race will be his last, the 19-metre boat finished in a corrected time of three days, 12 hours and 43 minutes.

Queensland yacht Black Jack has been confirmed in third place with a time of 3:14:46.

Wild Oats was declared the overall winner on Saturday with a corrected time of 3:10:26, adding to its line honours and race record.

Forty-eight boats remain at sea with around 30 due in Hobart on Sunday.

Light southwesterlies of 10-15 knots are expected off the southeast coast of Tasmania after tough southerlies hit on Saturday.

The last boat in the fleet, Sean Langman's 1932-built Maluka of Kermandie, is expected in Hobart before the New Year.

No boats quit the race on Saturday night, leaving the number of retirees at five.
