THREE POLICE OFFICERS WERE HURT WHEN GUNFIRE ERUPTED INSIDE THIS POLICE STATION.
AUTHORITIES SAID A MAN -- WHO WAS BEING PROCESSED ON A DOMESTIC VIOLENCE COMPLAINT -- GRABBED A GUN AND BEGAN FIRING.
IT HAPPENED FRIDAY MORNING IN CAMDEN COUNTY, NEW JERSEY.
THE SHOOTER, WHO WAS BEING HELD AT THE STATION, WAS SHOT AND KILLED.
"I saw them throw somebody into an ambulance. It was very, very quick. Police officers jumping into the ambulance...and then taking off very quick. They hung out here talking for a very long time and slowly you saw police offiers arriving in their cars from home...they had their badges on...you could see their guns...they locked down the police station and then the crime scene lab came."
OFFICIALS SAID TWO OFFICERS SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES. THEY WERE TREATED AT A HOSPITAL AND RELEASED.
A THIRD OFFICER WHO WAS SHOT WAS UNDERGOING SURGERY. OFFICIALS SAID THAT OFFICER IS EXPECTED TO RECOVER QUICKLY.
