PKG SCRIPT:

(SOT)

"Elmo likes to eat apples and carrots and bananas and oranges and..."

(SUPER = New York)

ELMO'S GOTTEN HEALTHIER....

AND SO HAS COOKIE MONSTER... WHO'S SNACKING ON COLORFUL FOODS, NOT JUST COOKIES.

(SOT)

(SUPER = Sesame Street Workshop 2013)

"What's red? Me know.. ha, ha..."

IN FACT ALL THE SESAME STREET CHARACTERS ARE MORE ACTIVE IN A GLOBAL PUSH TO GET KIDS HEALTHY.... AND THERE'S EVIDENCE IT'S WORKING.

(SOT)

(SUPER = Oumou Balde, Preschooler)

"Vegetables are good for you."

(SOT)

(SUPER = Bryson Payne, Preschooler)

"Apples, bananas and pineapple."

IT'S AN EFFORT TO REACH THREE TO FIVE YEAR-OLDS - EXPERTS SAY IT'S A CRITICAL AGE RANGE TO LEARN THE IMPORTANCE OF HEALTHY EATING AND EXERCISING.

(SOT)

(SUPER = Lewis Bernstein, Sesame Street Workshop)

"If you start early, you can set a child on a trajectory of success."

THAT'S WHY SESAME STREET WORKSHOP TEAMED UP WITH DOCTOR VALENTIN FUSTER, A NEW YORK HEART DOCTOR, TO IMPROVE KIDS' HEALTH... ONE-THIRD OF CHILDREN IN THE U-S ARE OBESE OR OVERWEIGHT.

(SOT)

(SUPER = Dr. Valentin Fuster, Cardiologist, Mt. Sinai Heart)

"A large number of adults that are obese started at a young age."

THEY CREATED A PROGRAM USING GAMES, CLASSROOM MATERIALS, HOMEWORK AND SHOW SEGMENTS TO TEACH KIDS AND PARENTS TO EXERCISE... AND COOK HEALTHY MEALS TOGETHER.

THEY EVEN DEVELOPED A NEW MUPPET, DOCTOR RUSTER, BASED ON FUSTER.

(SOT)

(SUPER = Sesame Street Workshop 2013)

"Oh, I get it now, these ingredients are going to turn into gazpacho. That's right!"

AN INITIAL STUDY DONE IN COLOMBIA FOUND A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDES AND HABITS ABOUT HEALTHY EATING AND ACTIVITY AMONG KIDS IN BOGOTA EXPOSED TO THE PROGRAM VERSUS THOSE THAT WEREN'T.

THAT SUCCESS LED TO A TEST RUN IN THE U-S LAST SUMMER AT A PRESCHOOL IN HARLEM... WHERE THE FOCUS IS PREVENTING OBESITY.

(SOT)

(SUPER = Rachael Lynch, Episcopal Social Services Learning Center)

"It's a mecca of takeout food. Every corner you go to there is a takeout place."

TEACHERS AND PARENTS NOTICED POSITIVE CHANGES RIGHT AWAY.

(SOT)

(SUPER = Donte Payne, Parent of preschooler)

"He changed from the fried chicken to the grilled chicken."

(SOT)

(SUPER = Elmo, Sesame Street):

"It's important to stay healthy and strong. Yeah. Elmo is very strong...(shows muscles)."

THE PROGRAM OFFICIALLY LAUNCHES IN A FEW NEW YORK SCHOOLS THIS SPRING.

(SOT)

"Eat your colors, yeah baby."
