At least 20 boats have been destroyed in a fire at a marina south of Brisbane.

Firefighters late on Monday afternoon were extinguishing the last of the flames from a boatshed at Cabbage Tree Point Road at Steiglitz, north of Jacobs Well.

They were called to the area just after 2pm (AEST).

Twenty-three fire crews responded and the blaze was under control by 3.15pm.

At least 20 of the approximately 230 vessels in the shed were lost, the Department of Community Safety said.
