Police in Geraldton say a specialised team has been assigned to investigate unrest at a rally in Geraldton.

A group of protesters yesterday stormed the Geraldton Courthouse as a driver, charged over a hit and run that killed two people, made his first appearance.

Inspector Kylie Whiteley says a 36-year-old man will be charged with smashing a window at the court building.

She says a car was damaged during the rally and police are investigating a number of other matters.

"There will be some follow up because obviously today there has been one or two incidents reported to us, which we have an investigation team allocated to reviewing any reported offences," she said.
