(Reuters) - Central Connecticut State University on Monday declared a campus emergency and told students and faculty to take shelter while police respond to an unspecified incident.

A university spokeswoman declined to comment on the nature of the incident.

The university is located in New Britain, outside Hartford.

A state police dispatcher said that officers were sent to the university after receiving a report of a suspicious unidentified male on campus. A dispatcher with the New Britain police department confirmed police were searching the campus after the report and added that there had been no injuries reported.
