The Opposition says union heavyweight Peter Malinauskas should not have been reappointed to a new WorkCover board.

The South Australian Government has legislated changes to the board's composition, including cutting the number of members from nine to seven and removing requirements for specific groups to have representation.

Existing member Jane Yuile has been appointed the new chair of a board with four new members and two reappointments.

Opposition treasury spokesman Iain Evans says if the Liberals win government next March they will revisit the board appointments.

"John Rau as minister said he was going to reform the WorkCover board to make it more commercial and get rid of representatives off the board and surprise, surprise he reappoints the kingmaker of the ALP, Peter Malinauskas, the man who delivered Jay Weatherill the job as Premier," he said.

Attorney-General John Rau told Parliament he was pleased to add new board members.

"I am ... pleased to announce the appointment of four new members to the board, first of all Dr Bill Griggs AM is the director of trauma services and the senior consultant for intensive care, retrieval services and anaesthetics at the Royal Adelaide Hospital," he said.
