A semi-trailer over-turned on the New England Highway, 33km north of Tamworth on Tuesday.

The single vehicle accident happened just before 3:30am.

Officers from Oxley Local Area Command, and other emergency services personnel, attended the scene.

The truck was carrying crate-loads of fruit and vegetables when it overturned on the Moonbi Ranges.

Spokesman with the Transport Management Centre, Dave Rose, says one northbound lane was temporarily blocked.

"The incident involved a truck 33km north of Tamworth that flipped on to its side blocking one of two northbound lanes," he said.

"The lanes were blocked for several hours while resources were brought on site to actually get the truck back on its wheels again."

Motorists experienced some delays.

The driver was not injured in the crash.
