A woman has survived a shocking sexual assault that saw her poisoned, burnt with cigarettes and held captive in a house north of Brisbane.

Police say the 23-year-old has only minor injuries as a result of her terrifying ordeal.

It's alleged a 23-year-old man assaulted her at a Caboolture house where she was held from Sunday afternoon to Monday morning.

"It's alleged the man assaulted her using cigarettes, pulled out her hair, threatened her with violence," a police spokeswoman told AAP.

She could not provide details about what poison was involved.

The man and the woman were known to each other.

The man has been charged with deprivation of liberty, torture, sexual assault, administering poison with intent to harm, robbery, burglary and commit indictable offence, and unlicensed driving.

He's due to face the Caboolture Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
