New Yorkers have had enough with Congress.

SOUNDBITE: VICTOR ALCAIDE FROM LONG ISLAND SAYING:

"It's ridiculous. I mean we pay all this taxes for what? And we elect these guys to sit there and basically grandstand on all the issues when they should be taking care of their own people right now."

SOUNDBITE: RACHEL DONNELLY FROM NEW MEXICO SAYING:

"I think it's stupid. Yeah."

Congress is racing towards a deal ahead of Thursday's midnight deadline on the debt limit.

If lawmakers fail to reach an agreement, the U.S. will run out of money to pay its bills.

Wall Street remains optimistic that Congress will be able to strike a last minute deal.

Stocks rose sharply in early Wednesday trading.

SOUNDBITE: SUHAIL AHMED FROM NEW JERSEY SAYING:

"I'm hopeful that something should come out today because today's the last day by 12 o'clock [midnight EDT]. They have to resolve it."

One of the issues lawmakers have not been able to resolve is the ongoing push by conservative Tea Party Republicans to defund the Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare.

SOUNDBITE: CATHERINE FROM CANADA SAYING:

"We're from Canada where we've got lots of healthcare so we don't quite understand the problem you guys are dealing with."

If lawmakers can't come up with a deal, some New Yorkers say it's time for them to go.

SOUNDBITE: VICTOR ALCAIDE FROM LONG ISLAND SAYING:

"They should all be impeached, you know, and let go. . . and have new elections, let's see what happens; bring in some new blood, maybe some younger ideas, you know? I think some of these guys have been in there too long."
