A 36-year-old man has made a brief appearance in the Perth Magistrates Court on a charge of murdering a teenager at the weekend.

Abraham Cross was charged yesterday after being questioned by police over the death of Callum Pinner, 19.

He was slashed across the throat outside a party in Doubleview in the early hours of Sunday morning.

It is alleged a machete was used in the attack.

Cross was not required to plead and was remanded in custody until he appears in court again next month.

Outside the court, his lawyer said Cross would be pleading not guilty.
