STORY: The annual celebration of classical music, The Classic Brit Awards, took place in London's Royal Albert Hall on Wednesday night (October 02). The event attracted a whole array of celebrated artists from outside the sphere of pop music, with accordion players, pianists, choristers and violinists all posing for photographs on the red carpet. Winners at the event included violinist and Female Artist of the Year Nicola Benedetti and experimental pianist and International Artist of the Year Lang Lang, who performed a rousing instrumental duet together. And, Amy Dickson won Mastercard's Breakthrough Artist of the Year for her album "Dusk & Dawn." Film composer Hans Zimmer won not only the Composer Award but also the Outstanding Contribution to Music. Luciano Pavarotti was supposed to receive a Lifetime Achievement Award from the organisation of the Classic Brits a few years ago, but was unable to accept due to poor health. So the organisers decided to finally give the award out posthumously. His fellow Three Tenors colleague Jose Carreras and Pavarotti's widow, Nicoletta Mantovani represented the star, who died in 2007.
