RABAT, Morocco (AP) — Amnesty International has condemned the detention of a Moroccan editor as a setback for freedom of expression after his website wrote about an al-Qaida video.

Moroccan police arrested Ali Anouzla, editor of the online news website Lakome, on Tuesday at his home for alleged incitement to violence.

Al-Qaida's North Africa branch issued a video last week criticizing the Moroccan government, which was covered by Lakome and other local media.

Lakome's site included a link to the Spanish daily El Pais, which had posted the video, according to human rights group Amnesty.

El Pais has since taken the video down. The Moroccan government has said it will file suit against the paper.

Amnesty said Wednesday it feared the arrest was related to Lakome's independence and criticism of government policies.
