The Coalition's incoming Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Jamie Briggs, says the Government will follow through on its commitment to upgrade the Darlington end of South Road in Adelaide.

Mr Briggs says that upgrade would give the best value for money.

The South Australian Government is at odds with the Coalition, as it wants to upgrade South Road between the River Torrens and Torrens Road, further north.

Mr Briggs said he understood the Federal Government still had to negotiate with the State Government to find the rest of the funding needed for the Darlington project.

"We will send this to Infrastructure Australia, as we committed, but that is the commitment that the Coalition made and I do note that the State Government, until we announced this was where we were going to commit the money, also had this as the number one priority for South Road," he said.
