WARSAW, Poland (AP) — Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi has met with the founder of the Solidarity freedom movement, Lech Walesa, to discuss Poland's experience in building democracy.
On the second day of her visit to Poland, the Nobel Peace Prize winner met also with President Bronislaw Komorowski.
She said Thursday she hopes the pro-democracy effort she leads will one day bring Myanmar to the same level of civic society as Poland has managed after Solidarity helped end communism in 1989.
Suu Kyi is visiting Europe's young democracies to learn about their experience. She is also going to Hungary and the Czech Republic. She first came to Europe last year.
