VOICE-OVER SCRIPT:

A NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH VOLUNTEER SUSPECTED OF RAPING FOUR WOMEN IN DALLAS HAS BEEN ARRESTED IN LOUISIANA.

U. S. MARSHALS SAY TUESDAY THAT LOCAL AND FEDERAL LAW OFFICERS ARRESTED 38-YEAR-OLD VAN DRAYLAN DIXSON IN BATON ROUGE.

POLICE BELIEVE A SINGLE ATTACKER SEXUALLY ASSAULTED AS MANY AS NINE WOMEN THIS SUMMER IN THE CITY'S FAIR PARK NEIGHBORHOOD.

POLICE SAY THE ATTACKER FORCED VICTIMS AT GUNPOINT INTO SECLUDED AREAS AND SEXUALLY ASSAULTED THEM.

INVESTIGATORS SAY DNA EVIDENCE HAS LINKED DIXSON TO FOUR OF THOSE ATTACKS, WHILE TEST RESULTS FROM OTHER ATTACKS ARE PENDING.

SOUNDBITE (English) Major Jeff Cotner, Dallas Police Department:

"That sexual assault is still under investigation. At this time I still have 9 sexual assaults."

NEIGHBORS SAY DIXSON WAS A CRIME-WATCH VOLUNTEER AND WOULD PATROL THE STREETS SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK.

SIGOUT - Bob McCall/Associated Press
