Reality shows may be on the wane after The X Factor lowered its colours to a news service for the second straight night and The Bachelor dipped in numbers.

There was even a drop in Big Brother's eviction ratings compared with last Monday's show.

The Seven Network's The X Factor has been a regular No.1 hit on OzTAM's ratings until it lost to Seven News on Sunday.

Then on Monday, the singing show lost out to Nine News, which filled the top position with 1.360 million viewers, leaving The X Factor having to settle for second again.

The X Factor pulled 1.317 million viewers to finish ahead of Seven News (1.256 million).

The Nine Network's Big Brother just squeezed into the Top 10, with 851,000 viewers, although it was 67,000 viewers fewer and two places lower than last Monday's eviction.

The Bachelor, which launched on Sunday in 11th spot with 669,000 viewers for Network Ten, dipped to 18th place with 622,000 watchers.
