Queensland Police say they are investigating the death of a man who was arrested at a Brisbane polling booth yesterday.

Police say the man was creating a disturbance at the Upper Mount Gravatt State School polling booth at 11:00am.

The 49-year-old was arrested and escorted outside the school grounds where he was issued with a notice to appear for public nuisance and released from custody.

Shortly afterwards the man collapsed and was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he died.

The police Ethical Standards Command and Crime and Misconduct Commission are investigating the incident and a report is being prepared for the coroner.
