A 35-year-old man is due to appear in court over a firearms incident at Lilydale, in Melbourne's outer-east last Monday.

Simon Hancock faced an out of sessions hearing at the Ringwood Police station after handing himself in on Thursday.

He has been charged with reckless conduct endangering life, common law assault and firearms offences.

Police began the search for Hancock after shots were fired at a house in Lilydale on three separate occasions.

They are still looking for a woman, Kimberley Perry, and her two children, who were believed to be travelling with Hancock.

Police want to hear from anyone who knows where they are.
