RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — France's Teddy Riner defeated Rafael Silva of Brazil to win the gold medal in the over-100-kilogram class at the judo world championships on Saturday. Bronze went to Faicel Jaballah of Tunisia and Andreas Toelzer of Germany.

After six of seven days, Japan leads with seven medals — three gold. France also has seven medals, but only two gold.

In other results, Elkhan Mammadov of Azerbaijan defeated Henk Grol of the Netherlands in the 100-kilogram final. Lukas Krpalek of the Czech Republic and Dimitri Peters of Germany took bronze.

In the women's over 78-kilogram final, Idalys Ortiz of Cuba defeated Maria Suelen Altheman of Brazil in the final. Bronze went to Megumi Tachimoto of Japan and Jung Eun Led of South Korea.
