Blind and vision-impaired people have protested outside Queensland parliament over Vision Australia's plan to close its Brisbane enterprise.
The not-for-profit organisation has foreshadowed closing its enterprises in Coorparoo in Brisbane's east and in Melbourne.
The Coorparoo warehouse employs 19 people doing manual labour.
Shelley Heaton, who has worked at the warehouse for two and a half years, said the decision would be devastating to many people.
"For some of them this is their main socialisation," she said on Wednesday.
"It's more than a job. It gives us a purpose to get out of bed."
Vision Australia Chief Executive Ron Hooton told AAP the warehouse had made substantial losses over the last few years.
"This is one of the hardest decisions we have had to make at Vision Australia," he said.
