VOICE-OVER SCRIPT:

AUTHORITIES IN SPAIN NOW SAY AT LEAST 77 PEOPLE WERE KILLED IN WEDNESDAY'S TRAIN DERAILMENT.

THAT MAKES IT THE WORST TRAIN ACCIDENT IN SPAIN IN DECADES.

MOST OF THE DEAD WERE FOUND AT THE SCENE OF THE TRAIN DERAILMENT.

HOWEVER, A COURT SPOKESWOMAN SAYS AT LEAST FOUR DIED IN THE HOSPITAL.

AT LEAST 140 PEOPLE WERE INJURED IN THE ACCIDENT.

THE PASSENGER TRAIN DERAILED ON A CURVY STRETCH OF TRACK IN THE NORTHWEST PART OF THE COUNTRY.

THE TRAIN WENT FLYING OFF THE TRACKS WHILE IT WAS COMING OUT OF A TUNNEL.

THE STATE-OWNED TRAIN OPERATOR SAYS THAT 218 PASSENGERS WERE ON BOARD THE TRAIN, ALONG WITH AN UNKNOWN NUMBER OF STAFF.

THE TRAIN WENT OF THE RAILS ON ITS WAY OT A CATHOLIC RELIGIOUS PILGRIMAGE THAT HONORS SAINT JAMES.

THE CEREMONIES, PLANNED FOR THURSDAY, WERE CANCELLED.

SPANISH AUTHORITIES SAY THEY BELIEVE THE WRECK WAS AN ACCIDENT.

AN INVESTIGATION TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE IS UNDER WAY.
