A pregnant woman whose flight was diverted from Sydney to Canberra has been taken to hospital with labour pains.
The woman was on a Virgin Australia flight from Auckland which was forced to land in Canberra because of heavy fog in Sydney.
She was taken by ambulance to Canberra Hospital.
The thick fog forced 10 flights destined for Sydney to divert to Canberra this morning, including flights from Hong Kong and Shanghai.
Sydney Airport has now reopened and the jumbo jets will depart Canberra soon.
Virgin Australia allows women who are no more than 38 weeks pregnant to take flights less than four hours long, as long as they have a doctor's approval.
The flight from Auckland to Sydney is just under four hours.
