The jury has retired in the trial of two men accused of involvement in the death of Canberra man Brendan Scott Welsh.

Cameron Ashcroft, 23, and Todd Elphick, 26, are charged with conspiring to cause grievous bodily harm to Mr Welsh.

Mr Welsh was killed when he was shot by Kai Yuen as he sat in his car at the Hughes shops in 2010.

The crown alleges Elphick called Ashcroft to enlist his help to lure Mr Welsh to the area for a drug deal.

The crown says the action was to help Yuen who was involved in a feud with Mr Welsh.

But lawyers for the pair say there was no agreement to deliberately shoot Mr Welsh and the actions were Yuen's alone.
