A distraught father says he did his best when he rushed into a burning house to try and save his toddler daughter, who's now in a critical condition in hospital.
The fire at the Elizabeth Park house was reported late on Tuesday night and was well alight when emergency workers arrived.
Police said a toddler, aged one, sustained burns and was in hospital in a critical but stable condition.
Her parents and siblings, aged five and four, managed to flee the burning building.
The father told a Network Ten reporter he had returned to the house when his partner told him their youngest child was still inside.
"I did my best," he said, saying he kept searching in the thick black smoke until he found her.
