NEW DELHI (AP) — India will organize next year's Thomas Cup and Uber Cup in New Delhi from May 18-25.
The Badminton World Federation deputy president Paisan Rangsikitpho said on Friday after the signing agreement that since India had been showing a consistent improvement in performances, it was a "good thing for the country" to host the tournaments.
The tournaments will be played under a new format from next year.
There will be no preliminary tournaments and a total of 16 teams will participate instead of the 12 who used to make it from the continental qualifying rounds.
The top 14 will gain entry on world rankings, while the defending champions and host teams will get automatic entries.
