REESE WITHERSPOON SAYS SHE'S DEEPLY EMBARRASSED ABOUT HER RUN-IN WITH POLICE IN ATLANTA.

THE OSCAR WINNING ACTRESS WAS WITH HER HUSBAND, AGENT JIM TOTH EARLY FRIDAY, WHEN HE WAS PULLED OVER.

A POLICE REPORT SAYS THAT BEFORE TOTH WAS GIVEN A SOBRIETY TEST, WITHERSPOON IGNORED THE STATE TROOPER'S WARNING, GOT OUT THE CAR TWICE, AND THEN HUNG OUT THE CAR WINDOW CLAIMING THAT THE OFFICER WAS A FAKE.

TOTH WAS CHARGED WITH DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE AND FAILURE TO MAINTAIN THE LANE.

WITHERSPOON WAS ARRESTED ON A CHARGE OF DISORDERLY CONDUCT.

IN A STATEMENT RELEASED SUNDAY, WITHERSPOON SAID SHE IS VERY SORRY AND HAS NOTHING BUT RESPECT FOR THE POLICE.

SHE WAS RELEASED FROM JAIL AND MADE IT TO NEW YORK IN TIME FOR THE PREMIERE OF HER NEW FILM, MUD, SUNDAY NIGHT.
