NEW YORK (AP) — A New York maker of dietary supplements, Kabco Pharmaceuticals Inc., has been ordered to follow federal laws regulating the manufacture and distribution of the products.

A Long Island federal judge Thursday approved a deal that the Justice Department reached with Kabco and its CEO and president. The agreement calls for the Amityville, N. Y.-based company to properly follow the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act.

The government claimed the company violated the act by selling dietary supplements that had not been prepared and packed under proper conditions. The company manufactured dietary supplements using components such as passion extract, rice flour and dandelion root. The government filed a lawsuit last year after finding problems during factory inspections in 2010 and 2011.

A company lawyer did not respond to a request for comment.
