SHIZUOKA, Japan (AP) — Hisato Sato scored a pair of goals Saturday to lead defending champion Sanfrecce Hiroshima to a 4-0 thrashing of Shimizu S-Pulse in the J-League.

Naoki Ishihara opened the scoring in the 14th minute and Sato, last season's top scorer, doubled the lead in the 69th minute on a penalty kick for his first goal of the campaign.

Hiroki Mizumoto widened the lead to 3-0 four minutes later and Sato completed the scoring with just under 10 minutes remaining as Sanfrecce improved to seven points.

In other matches, Cerezo Osaka improved to 10 points after a 1-1 draw with Vegalta Sendai while Sagan Tosu earned a 3-3 draw with winless Jubilo Iwata courtesy of a hat trick by forward Yohei Toyoda.
