Thieves attempt to pull ATM from wall in Claremont

Police are investigating a ram raid on an automatic teller machine in the Perth suburb of Claremont.

Thieves used a vehicle to smash their way into a Suncorp Bank branch on Bayview Terrace in the early hours of this morning.

The bank's ATM was knocked out of the wall and pushed into the bank but, at this stage, it does not appear that any money was stolen.

Police say they have found a vehicle they believe may have been used in the raid.

They located a small black SUV in the western suburbs that is similar to the vehicle seen on security cameras as the raid occurred.

Bayview Terrace is covered by several security cameras and the incident was caught on video.
