A man has died in a housefire in central NSW moments after absconding from hospital where he was treated for injuries he suffered in a fight.
Police say they found the body of the 53-year-old man in the burnt remains of the house in Dandaloo St, Nyngan, shortly after midnight (AEDT) on Tuesday.
Earlier in the night police had visited the house on reports the man had been involved in a fight with another man and injured his head.
He was taken to Nyngan Hospital but left around 10pm with the cannula still in his arm.
Paramedics returned to the home and removed the cannula.
Shortly after, a neighbour reported the house was on fire, police say.
The man was found inside but could not be revived.
Investigators are examining the scene on Tuesday morning.
A police spokesman told AAP that officers had not questioned the other man involved in the fight, but were investigating possible links between both incidents.
