A multi-million dollar cannabis crop has been found in a vineyard near Wangaratta in Victoria's north-east.

Police say information from the public led to the discovery of 6,000 plants valued at up to $25 million.

Two NSW men, aged 38 and 65, have faced court charged with drug offences.

The pair, from Griffith and Liverpool respectively, were arrested yesterday morning when officers raided the property at Cheshunt.

Inspector Dave Ryan says it is the first time such a cannabis cultivation has been found in the area since the 1970s and '80s.

"Very healthy marijuana plants growing under these vines and thousands upon thousands of them," he said.
