Nurse safety questioned after attempted abduction

Police are searching for two men who attempted to abduct a nurse in Brisbane's inner-south.

Police say a man grabbed the 36-year-old woman near the Princess Alexandra Hospital in Annerley about 9:00pm (AEST) last night.

He held a sharp implement to her side and threatened her, telling her to get into a car parked nearby, where another man was waiting.

Officers say the woman freed herself and ran off when another car drove by.

Detectives say she was not seriously hurt, only sustaining a scratch where the sharp object was pushed against her.

Queensland Nurses Union secretary Beth Mohle says her blood ran cold when she was informed about the incident this morning.

"It is just absolutely our worst nightmare that anything like this could happen. We've put in a call to management at PA Hospital to find out more information," she said.

"Of course we'll be seeking urgent meetings to address the safety and security issues arising from this and whether there's anything more we can do to ensure the safety and security of nurses."

The men have been described as being of African appearance and one of them had a distinguishing vertical scar on his lower left cheek.

Police are asking anyone who may have information about the incident to come forward.
