DETROIT (AP) — Gov. Rick Snyder is hosting a meeting with business, academic and government leaders to develop new ways to boost job growth and connect Michigan residents to jobs.

The Republican governor will hold an economic summit Monday and Tuesday at Detroit's Cobo Center. The summit will feature presentations and sessions during which participants can share ideas about job growth and economic development strategies.

Planned speakers include Business Leaders for Michigan President and Chief Executive Doug Rothwell and Michigan Economic Development Corp. chief Michael Finney.

Snyder said Friday in a release that the event will be a "hands-on, working summit" that will challenge leaders "to focus on new ways of providing meaningful job opportunities."
