Two men have been injured while fighting a fire burning from the suburb of Risdon Vale.
The firefighters were treated for smoke inhalation by paramedics near Cambridge.
The Tasmanian Fire Service says they had been working in steep terrain when flames emerged quickly from a gully, fanned by strong winds.
Calm conditions overnight have helped firefighters trying to control the blaze which escaped containment lines on Wednesday afternoon.
The TFS says winds and temperatures have eased, but an advice warning remains.
On the west coast, two shacks have been damaged and a vehicle destroyed in a bushfire at Pieman Head.
The fire which has burnt 550 hectares is currently uncontrolled.
An advice alert remains for the fire but it is not currently threatening any properties.
