ONE DAY AFTER AN AUTO ACCIDENT IN NORTHEAST OHIO KILLED SIX TEENAGERS .....THEIR COMMUNITY MOURNS....TRYING TO MAKE SENSE OF THE TRAGEDY.

"we can only watch our kids for so long...at a certain time....you're going to have to trust god that he is going to keep their hands around them....and he is going to protect them."

THE SUV THEY WERE RIDING IN STRUCK A GUARD RAIL.....AND THEN CRASHED INTO A POND..

"it's sad to see six .... not even adults .....killed like that."

THE CRASH IS STILL UNDER INVESTIGATION.

BUT THE OWNER OF THE S-U-V HAS FILED A STOLEN VEHICLE REPORT.

POLICE SAY IT WAS TRAVELING TOO FAST WHEN IT WENT OUT OF CONTROL.

BRIAN HENRY WAS ONE OF TWO SURVIVORS.

"We hit the rail.....and i got knocked unconscious....it was upside down.....I hit my head on the dashboard....and I flew to the backseat where everybody was at....the water was so cold it woke me back up."

MONDAY THE CITY'S MAYOR LED A PRAYER SESSION TO HELP RESIDENTS COPE WITH THEIR GRIEF.

SOUNDBITE:

"this is our calling....we're not going to let this loss of life be in vain.....we're going to learn from this....we're going to be a better and stronger community because of this."

RESIDENTS ALSO RELEASED BALLOONS INTO THE AIR IN A SHOW OF UNITY.

"We just have to find a way to be able to reach our children so we can go on...and build life in our neighborhoods as opposed to seeing this death and destruction."

POLICE SAY THEY'RE NOT SURE HOW MANY OF THE TEENS KNEW THE SUV WAS STOLEN.

AND THEY SAY NONE OF THEM WAS WEARING A SEATBELT.
