Wildlife rangers have removed a 3.8 metre crocodile from a trap near the Inpex project site in Darwin Harbour.

The saltie is the largest to be removed from the trap, which was donated by Inpex contractors last October to help protect workers at the site.

The Parks and Wildlife Commission says the removal is an important reminder for the public to be croc-wise when swimming in Territory waters.

Wildlife officer Dani Best said the saltie was the fifth to be removed from the Myrmidon Creek trap since it was installed.

Its capture took the number of crocodiles removed from Darwin Harbour in the first 10 weeks of the year to 33.
